FCC bats go to town...
It was blistering heat at the TCA stadium on
Sunday the 13th with temps hitting 40 degrees. However in the end the superior fitness of the FCC boys prevailed after they
posted at score of 141.
The innings was characterized by several nice
partnerships between Sunny (our new opener) and Shardul who added 26 for the second wicket.
Then the fireworks started after DB in uncharacteristic
fashion started slamming the TCA bowlers all over the park hitting seven boundaries in his 34. Kezza said that "he looks
like Darren Lehmann out there," although while he is bald and his name is Darren, the similarities most likely stop there.
DB is more stylish...
After DB was dismissed on 84, the Shadow stole
the show stepping up a gear before being given out LBW on 55. He had added 41 with Stephen in no time at all. The six
he hit over square leg was a towering one which led to the TCA boys calling for a new ball. Another beautifully stylish knock
from the master who averages something like 60 for the club.
Good support from Taylor-made (14*) and
Salim (8*) saw us reach 141/4 off our allotted 20 overs.
Joe with 2/19 was the most impressive of the
TCA boys claiming the wickets of both openers. Krishna was punished ending up with 0/33 of his 4 overs (sorry Kris -
not enough of those testosterone- stimulating herbs?).
In reply, the TCA boys never really got into
the game with Glen, Joe and Kapil reaching double figures before compiling 101/9 after their 20 overs. The 7 required rate
of seven an over was simply too much.
The highlights included Salim who took
a blinder at fly slip to claim the wicket of the dangerous Glen (17) off the bowling of Vishwa. DB bowled well claiming
3/14 including the wicket of Kapil for 14 (DB is noted as "Takia" by the TCA scorers - what does that mean Sunnie?).
DB has taken 10 wickets now against the TCA off 10 overs.
Vishwa 2/7 ('corker yorker' as Richie Benaud
would say to bowl Krishna) and Etienne 2/6 (including a hatrick opp) bowled well, with Dwight 1/2, and
Mr. Ed 1/10 chipping in to demolish the subcontinent team.
Good all-round bowling from the lads however
poor out cricket, dropping at least 5 catches. Jackie, chase those guys up!
All in
all a comprehensive victory by the Formosans against an admittedly under strength TCA side.
We look forward to the next outing against CCC
on Sunday (7/20)!
We love it!
