Friendly FCC Vs. CCC 03/Aug/2003

Some kind of match FCC vs.. "CCC" + 2 FCC

Match 1 :
CCC - 64 off 14 (all out)
FCC - 83/1 off 8
Highlights:
Sunnie 44*
DB 21* & 2/10
Simon 2/3
Ed 2/2

A blisteringly hot day greeted the FCC as they arrived promptly at 9 am after a trip on the team bus where they watched the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan, followed by the first half of American Pie. It was this spirit of comraderie ( a theme in both movies) which led to a convincing victory by the boys in the first match.

The FCC loaned Cilliers, Vishwa, and Tom to the CCC after names were drawn out of a hat. Vishwa would top score for the FCC with 14 while Shanta scored 12 and Cilliers 9. Extras of 21 made up 1/3 of the CCC score.

But it was an awesome bowling display on a bouncy San Shia wicket, equally well supported by some great ground fielding. Charl, Simon, Ed, Etienne and DB all picked up wickets in what was a consistent bowling display across the board by all 7 bowlers employed.

All out 64.

There was never any doubt about the reply with Salim the only casuality (run out for seven) with Sunnie finishing unbeaten on 44 and DB on 21.

Match 2 :
FCC - 130/7 off 16
CCC - 119/9 off 16 (all out)
Highlights:
Cobra 14* & 3/5
DB 21 & 2/18
Salim 2/16 & 2 dismisals as wk
Tom 16

Well things were a little different in the 2nd game.

The FCC won the toss and batted and were off to a flier with DB picking up where he left off in the 1st match hitting 21 off two overs before being bowled by a great delivery from the rejuvenated Fast Bowler. All batsmen then contributed with a nice 16 from Tom, 13 from Charl and a well compiled 14 no. from Ed. Extras top scored with 32.

FCC had reached 130 off their allotted 16 overs and looked in a comfortable position in this 9 a side match. Charles bowled well for CCC picking up 2/8. Cilliers was extremely sharp claiming 2/22 . The Fast Bowler loves the San Shia ground...

OK 131  to win off 16...

Cilliers opened the batting with Vishwa and the pair added a nice 30 odd before Cilliers retired to go back to school. Very soft...

The Fast Bowler hit a six and two 4s in his 14.

When FB left he also took two FCC players with him namely Simon (0/28 off 3) and Etienne (0/7). This left us with just 7 men on the field. Cheers guys :-)

It was then left to the rest of the troops to rally with just 5 fielders vs.. the CCC's 10 batsmen.

However after a slump in the middle the FCC clawed back with DB picking up 2/18 and Salim 2/16 before Charl knocked over Vishwa's castle on 42. Ed was called on to bowl the last with the CCC requiring 17 to win.

Well Ed picked up 3/5 off that last over which featured a great catch by stand -in keeper Salim (is there anything he can't do? - new nickname nobody? coz nobody is perfect?). Salim - great work behind the stumps with 1 catch and 1 stumping (should have been 2).

But what a great day it was for the English git - picking up his highest score for the FCC and his best wicket haul. Great stuff Cobra!

The star for the "CCC" was Vishwa! What a knock boyo! The young man hit 42 against the best bowling in Taiwan on a ruthless pitch. We found our missing middle order batsmen on Sunday. Well done Vishwa - the pasting he gave Charl in his first over was quite a treat to watch (sorry big boy).

Anyway, well done guys - it was a long afternoon with 5 fielders. Great stuff!

Thanks also to Shantha and his men for making the game happen...that was great Sri Lankan hospitality !
